Welcome to Cultivate NSW!

We are the peak body for Horticultural Therapy in NSW, bringing together everyone who is interested in health and wellness through gardens and natural environments.

We encourage positive change in people's lives through the use of Social and Therapeutic Horticulture and can show you how to gain the skills for a rewarding career in this emerging field.

We have a wonderful community of members and friends from all backgrounds and with diverse interests.

Come along to a Cultivate Event or Workshop to learn more.  We have a new Events Page where you will find our events in pink and other like-minded community events that we support in green.

There has been no better time to join us as a member - for more information check out our Member Information Page.

Cultivate Almost Weekly Times

26th March, 2020

Hello members and friends,

We are not going to labour the COVID-19 message as we’re sure you all know about it and are taking the requisite precautions and getting on with life, in whatever way you can, while being safe.

Obviously we will not be holding face to face workshops, meetings or events for the foreseeable future.

We will, however, continue to develop Cultivate offerings and to plan the Green Heals project in readiness for post COVID-19 times.

Thinking about what we can do though, we have access to lots of wonderful technology and we are working on putting it to good use for our members and friends.

GoToMeeting facilities – keep connected – Members Only

One positive thing we can do right now is make our GoTo Meeting facilities available for members, free of charge, to connect with staff, customers, friends and family and community.

If you would like to access our GoToMeeting facilities please fill in this form.

We will then confirm availability, schedule your session/s, and send you the link for your session or sessions.

Virtual ‘Coffee/wine’ sessions – have some fun, de-stress and learn something new.

We will also be scheduling some 'virtual coffee’ or for those who would prefer ‘virtual glass of wine’ sessions, hosted by various members on aspects of TH/HT.

Expect fun and practical tips and tricks to stay sane and connected during these challenging times.

Please feel free to contact us with ideas for the virtual sessions and if you would like to host one or more of them.

Business members please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need help with understanding what’s available from government and other sources to help you survive.

Personal therapy – reflective time

It’s very important at this time, particularly coming on top of the droughts, fires, and floods, that we take care of ourselves and to be compassionate to ourselves and everyone around us.

If you are having difficulties please don’t be afraid to reach out to us if you need practical and or emotional support.

If you can, take the time to reflect, be creative and most therapeutic of all - plant some flowers, veggies, trees, walk in nature if you can.

To help you indulge in some Horticulture Therapy, YATES have kindly donated some recently expired seeds for distribution: baby carrots, purple basil, curly-leaved parsley, marigolds, violas, pansies and lobelia.

Please fill in the order form and we will organise to get the seeds to you. Limits will apply.

Stay safe, stay sane and see you all soon – be it virtually or face to face!

From all of the Cultivate Team

Latest Intro to Therapeutic Horticulture Workshop - Sydney, Feb 2020
Once again we were blessed with fabulous weather for our first Introduction to Therapeutic Horticulture workshop for 2020 at Camperdown Commons.

The facilitators, Jacquie and Sharon, started with a short meditation which allowed us to let go of the past week and to settle and focus on the day.

The workshop is designed as a ‘taster’ to provide information for attendees as to exactly what Therapeutic Horticulture is in practice and the difference between it and Horticulture Therapy.

First Hunter Hub Meetup 2020

On February 22, the Cultivate Hunter Hub got underway with a coffee morning at the Hunter Multicultural Community Centre, Community Garden.

It was a very productive meeting and the outcome was to focus on delivering a range of workshops, guest speaker sessions and other events that will build the TH/HT profession in the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie and Hunter regions and promote Cultivate NSW.
